Airwaves Racing leave Oulton Park after round 4 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on a high after a rollercoaster weekend. A disastrous start in qualifying resulting in significant damage to both Ford Focus cars saw the team battle back hard to secure their second race win of the season and fifth visit to the podium.
Airwaves Racing secured another solid points finish to aid their 2011 Championship Challenge at this weekend’s third round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton. The Hampshire track is well renowned for being one of the most punishing circuits on the calendar, and the team come away pleased with the Ford Focuses performance having bagged three top six finishes including another podium finish, putting Mat Jackson in second place for the Championship.
Airwaves Racing secured their first win of the 2011 Dunlop British Touring Car Championship after a weekend of dramatic results at Donington Park. A difficult qualifying session coupled significant race damage to the teams ‘Little Red Devils’ looked to be writing off the Kent-base team’s chance of success, however, a fantastic victory and top ten finish in race 3 has put them firmly back on the map for the Championship challenge ahead.

Airwaves BMW’s Mat Jackson fished the season’s last Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship qualifying session in 6th place on Brands Hatch’s GP circuit, affording the Warwickshireman every chance of clinching his first Independent Drivers championship. Steven Kane, who will start in 14th, sits just 18 points behind Tom Onslow-Cole who currently leads the Independent Drivers Standings.
Despite none of the expected rainfall, Donington Park provided all the drama you could wish for as Airwaves BMW gave it their all, taking home more points and silverware the team had hoped for. As the British Touring Car Championship reaches its climax with just one more race meeting to come at Brands Hatch, the title race is closer than ever- realistically Airwaves BMW can win the Independent titles.
Airwaves BMW driver Steven Kane displayed some of the form which saw him dominate the podiums and top the Independent Drivers championship with 16 solid points at the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship races at Knockhill this weekend. Jackson was not far behind on 12 points in a day that will be remembered for the determined drives of both Jackson and Kane, and the bad luck which hampered both of them.

The fortunes of Airwaves BMW were emphatically turned on their head at Silverstone today as Mat Jackson dipped into his reserve of talent to produce a spellbinding drive to take him from 10th to 3rd in the day’s final race, his fifth podium of the season. This result gives the team a fighting chance with just three more race meetings to go of winning their first Independent Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
In the first of today’s two Free Practice sessions, Mat Jackson held his own, securing an overall 3rd place finish with a time of 1.01.128. In one of the closest fort practices this season just 0.95 seconds separated the first seventeen drivers, with Steven Kane running a 1.01.636 to finish 13th. In usual fashion the session was led by Chilton’s awkwardly fast turbo charged Ford (1.01.084) followed swiftly by Jordan’s NGTC turbo specification Vauxhall Vectra (1.01.114).
With sandwiches cut, cold drinks packed and summer shorts on, tens of thousands of motoring fans poured into Norfolk’s Snetterton racetrack for rounds 16/17/18 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. It’s been a long time coming after the seven-week summer breather, and with the sun shining the day would be remembered for Jackson’s second place podium finish and a solid and respectable points haul for the team.
The return to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship looked a decidedly grim affair as the session kicked off. After the seven-week summer break the eyes of the motoring world were firmly fixed on Snetterton, and the ominous dark grey clouds overhead.
Thousands of screaming motoring enthusiasts gathered at north Yorkshire’s beautiful Croft racing circuit to celebrate and witness a landmark 100th Dunlop MSA British Touring Car start for Airwaves BMW driver Mat Jackson; but in the end it was the plucky Steven Kane who stole the show with yet another career defining display that saw him romp from 19th to 3rd place in a drive that rivals the very best in BTCC recent history.
Kane secures a 2nd place finish in the day’s final race, Airwaves BMW stay atop of the HiQ Teams Championship, while Steven Kane and Mat Jackson find themselves first and second in the Independent Drivers Championship and third and fifth in the overall BTCC Drivers Championship, after three exhilarating rounds today at Oulton Park in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The first race of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Rockingham this morning was dictated by tyre choice. Clearly while damp, wet tyres would provide the necessary grip – however, as the sun broke through as the cars lined up on the grid, it was clear the weather was improving.
